Fuck. Why the ridges on the spare carbon rings?

Lighting makes it look a little worse than it is, but the 48 and 52t have some oxidation issues that're causing the carbon to separate from the aluminum ring. I do carbon repairs so either I'll try to repair it or maybe send it out to calfee for repairs. 49t and 50t are nearly perfect though. 51t has a fiberglass cover (I've seen it in catalogs before). I've never seen the CHCD chainring case before though. All in all not bad for $1300 (£830)

Not sure what purpose the carbon has apart from aesthetic (right thread 4 it) if it is alloy underneath...

aero, the alu chainring has large cutouts in it and the carbon is very thin so it's lighter than a solid alu ring. and since it's 110bcd a solid alu ring in 52t would be quite heavy

Ok...altho my Zen Olympic is milled out to paper thin at rear...I actually thought Sugino was solid crabon with alloy teeth...
