  • Is is possible to add disc mounts to a steel frame and fork? or would everything blow up?

  • Highly inadvisable, the fork need to be extensively modified to cope with the force that's coming from the stay rather than the crown.

    Your best bet really is to get a new disc fork, and modified the rear for disc.

  • The fork would be easier to replace outright, but the frame should be ok, as long as a reinforcing strut is fitted between the stays.

    Or there's the neater ( imo ) option of placing the mount on the chainstay.

    Best to let an experienced frame builder take a look at your frame and advise you.
