  • I also actually really enjoy riding public transport - napping, daydreaming, listening to music, peoplewatching.

That I definitely can related to, especially when it's not rush hours, not paying for the fare, and a quiet carriage (from South Wimbledon).

  • Has Tommy hacked Ed's account?

  • You do realised you can get the Freedom Pass as well on account for being an elderly, right?

  • I don't get it, Ed...

  • Oh, I see!!! #humour

  • The theory of relativity and quantum physics are disputed, too. :)

    Really? Which bits?

General relativity and quantum mechanics have both had a fair bit of research into them, and there's even the odd bit of theoretical and empirical evidence too.

Risk compensation, on the other hand, not so much.

It seems like an odd comparison to make.

    By creationists?

I could dig up the data but, meh...

You guys are too funny. :)

  • The better term is not disputed, but better fit. Hence why we currently have string theory.

  • Well written piece.

But have a different experience of public transport. Things such as multiple changes and dealing with late night last trains etc.

    Good luck @Clockwise

  • Some decent tips from Evans cycles mostly covered in the thread already.

Good though to see that Evans have taken on board this advice rather than the usual 'Buy a helmet from us and wear it' that other orgs sometimes think of as road safety. They recommend right filtering at lights too, which is bold.

Bear in mind that doesn't make much difference in the shop, a helmet is additional sales to them, thereforth "helmet is law" is actually fairly common (if false) sales tactic.

  • Bike shop staff tell customers that you must have a helmet because its the law ?

  • #notallbikeshop

I have witnesses some interesting sales tactic to get people to buy helmet, from "head are the main common injuries in cycling" to "this £100 helmets pass the NCAP and this is the one we recommend, not the £30 one"

  • I get far less angst out on the road than I do online, where if you read enough, a measure of fear or at least worry starts to soak in insidiously.

Do you mean fear about cycling, or for the human race generally?

  • Yes, and they make the point that left filtering is the riskier of the two options. I'm glad of this.

    However this:

Interaction between road users can prevent accidents and calm tempers should they be aroused.

is going to lead to alot more dogging.
