Was that from Creation Watches? They've had a big sale on and have quite a wide selection of Seiko and Citizen watches!

My Dad has an Omega Dynamic. Blue face. Very nice.
I'd quite like a Chronostop at some point which also has that late 60's / 70's style.

Very nice gridds! You haven't paid that for it though have you?
-
• #14610
Oh I haven't bought it, just saw it in a shop window, thought people on here would appreciate so put up a pic.
I do think the shop is overpriced on many items it has. -
• #14611
Agree on overpriced, I'd put it at about £800 tops. Still pretty, especially on the bracelet, but way too expensive.

i wonder what it cost new...

At work, I have to wear proper evening dress. Apparently it is extremely bad form to wear a wristwatch with white tie, and the correct timepiece to go with the rig is a proper pocket watch, rather than my Sinn U1.
Nobody really minds, but it's an excuse to do a bit of shopping for a christmas present for myself. I guess I'm looking for something english, antique and preferably in a silver case.
Any pointers? What sort of money am I looking at for a reliable watch which will keep reasonably good time? -

I've always understood that it's bad form to wear any form of watch with evening wear, as it implies that because you need to track time you have somewhere else more important to be than the function you are attending.

I know, but I am at work, so I do need some sort of timekeeping apparatus.
Edit- I guess the idea is that most people don't require a watch, but because I'm one of the people running things, I need to know the time so stuff happens at the right times.

I am always amazed at the selection available at portobello road market on a Saturday morning. Go into all the arcades

What do you do for a living? I'm intrigued.

Doorman at the House of Lords

Doorkeeper, but yes.
There is an actual doorman, but he's known as Redcoat. He dresses up like a ringmaster in a red tailcoat and a top hat. All he really needs is a whip and a chair and he could be a lion tamer.
You couldn't make it up really. -

What's a reasonable price for this? I stupidly missed the price in the photo.
-
• #14624
I've seen the black dial versions go for between £400-£800 on eBay... Not an expert tho', just a big fan...

gridds I'll give you £30 and a Kit Kat. Can't say fairer than that.
I'd say it suits the watch quite well.
