@skydancer Why do you keep spelling Sydney as "Sidney"?
It is a horrible place to ride though. Every time I go back there and try and use my bike like I do in London I'm shocked at how unfriendly a place it is.
The roads are faster, most drivers seem intent on speeding, lane changing, hard acceleration and braking as much as possible. I used to commute from Manly to Paddington (the Sydney version) by bike and it was a proper gamble every day. Helmet legislation is really the least of their problems.
