• IME, most commuting London drivers aren't bad at all because they know that their journey takes about the same time every time unless there's a major accident, and that cyclists don't really affect their journey times.

Working London drivers (deliveries, taxis, etc even some bus drivers) are far less tolerant.

Non-regular London drivers are also bad as they often don't know where they are going, which lane to be in, etc so they (choose to) have less time for other road users.

The route you take makes a huge difference too. I have a relatively calm commute as there are minimal turnings/junctions off to the left and so reduced conflict.

Good point, and Sue said that in Sidney, drivers seem to blame cyclists for delays, (despite the fact that they're mostly stuck behind other drivers so are causing their own delays)

    are far less tolerant.

Indeed, in fact recently TfL found that London Taxis, Black cabs and private are the most dangerous vehicles on the road (See their recently published Cycle Safety Action Plan for the details (p14)

  • Non-regular London drivers.

I'd also said that they're not used to the sudden number of people cycling, and reacted accordingly too.
