"Also, that rear hub is secured with weedy M6 bolts, so probably does need the assistance when DAWSing or whatever it was called."
or not

How long was you expecting the warranty to be on a budget aluminum track frame that you've been riding on the street?
is clearly not fit for purpose
I think if you contact all the velodromes that use them as hire bikes you'll find they fit their purpose very well.
What you mean is that it's not suitable for 2.5 years of daily commutes and potholes, which isn't really it's purpose. -

Complete and utter shit. I've had two head on crashes, and worked on my crusty pre-cursa and it's still going strong. If it snaps, I wouldn't hesitate to blindly put another...oh crap...is that all. £100!
Astonishing.
You've spent under a penny a day to run this bike for 3 years. What the hell are you bitching about? Look back at the 90 pages and be amazed at how silly the words you've written now sound.
Yeah, I'll take that replacement if you get it, and so will most people here.

Dolan frames are such good value they are pretty much disposable. They fit my tightarse needs perfectly and I just buy a new one if mine is looking battered or fancy a different colour.
Mine gets used on and off road and never actually had an issue with one. If I had a breakage I would not even be contacting Dolan, I would just buy another. If it broke within a week of purchase I may feel differently but after 2.5 years, no.
Putting things in perspective...

The frameset alone is better a value considering the seatpost, seat clamp, headset and fork, all for another £100.

Yup, ours are 2 years old now, 84 bikes shared between something like 30-40,000 riders. No cracks, a few small dents from handlebars swinging round etc, paintwork in very good condition. Pretty fit for purpose if you ask me.

EDIT: "possibly does need..." haha.
What hubs are they? My beater rear wheel (a Globe) has M8 bolts going straight into the hub (with Chrome Domes). I'd be concerned about bolts thinner than M8. -

i opted for a single speed fixed wheel build, got all the parts as you do, top of the range and a canondale frame. Unfortunately it didnt have the horizontal drop
lol
unbelievable a steel frame snaps in 2.5 years,
even more so when it's made of aluminium. More lol.

new track champion coming soon, any one got more info on this - what are the changes?
-
• #2238
Lol thanks for all the advice.
The chain tugs don't for the Dolan frame drop outs.
Anyway I am just using the track nuts and I see what you mean.
My previous track dropouts were less hefty. The Dolan seems to be happy with the track nuts so I'll ride without the tugs for now.
Anyone want to buy the chain tugs?
£25 quid.
I'll post the pics of my finished build. Tomorrow.

So I finished my Build yesterday. Just a few tweaks to do but am loving it. I'm glad I went for the Dolan Pre Cursa Frameset.

Slammed inverted 35 degree stem with those bars = big drop. I like it!
The white screen-printed logo on the stem will scratch off or rub off with a rag and some Brasso. -

it comes off from just regular use so no need.

are dolan seta available anywhere new? 56cm

Thanks.I'm actually accustomed to it. Love it.

My buddy has set up a courier business, this is his Pre Cursa for work.
-
• #2246
Dolan discontinued them for a long time, unsurprisingly they wouldn't says what Chinese seller they got it from.
-
• #2247
Had my pre cursa for three or four years and I wouldn't expect anything back from em over that. I snapped the chain stay tube in the middle of a steal IRO and just put it down to wear and tear.
-
• #2248
I gotta say, surely you would never expect a frame to snap, no matter how expensive or cheap it was?
I have a pre-cursa and have raced it on the track for a season and now use it to commute on. They are definitely 'fit for purpose'. I love it.
However, if the opinion is that they will snap after three years riding on the road, shouldn't there be some kind of disclaimer from Dolan? Should I now get another frame for fear of the inevitable and, apparently, normal happening?
-
• #2249
Surely the disclaimer is the lack of Lifetime warranty and that it is listed as a "Track" frame?

A Pre Cursa is pretty much the cheapest aluminium Track frame one can buy and it's a pucker track frame not a drilled, relaxed geo street frame. It's designed, marketed and warrantied for use on a velodrome. I wouldn't expect one to snap but I wouldn't expect it not to either if its used outwith its intended purpose.
whip skidding for years on numerous bikes including a track champion. never needed tensioners... maybe you just need to HTFU?
