Rapha, nice but a bit pricey?

At the risk of repeating myself... the Gabba is a great alternative to a jersey+gilet+armwarmers combo. Wearing it at the lower end of it's temp-range and a gilet over the Gabba is an option too.

Softshell jackets I've used will keep the rain out longer (but the sweat in too). I seem to spend a lot of time riding with them open and/or too hot.

IMO the price of 'breathable' softshells makes £120 for a Gabba (what I paid) an ok buy.

70 miles in rain with merino base layer, Gabba/nanoflex and gilet was spot on. And mine was only £90... must admit I'm struggling to see when i'll use my PTJ this winter. Perhaps when it gets colder.

Is the gabba fleece lined (like the PTJ)? I thought it was a thin rain protectorer?

Dense drizzle. The water in my shoes was in a liquid state.

I don't actually own a rain jacket (yet, racecape in the post). Always preferred to be wet and warm than dry and sweaty.

Just got my race Cape. Tight fit. Got an XL, I'm a tight L in their club jerseys, good fit in their XL pro Jersey. Nice bit of kit and does scrunch up pretty small.

I did a century in moderate to heavy rain in this get up (minus the gilet) a couple of weekends back and it was, as it always is, perfect. The thing that always impresses is the temperature regulation. Never too hot, never too cold. Which is my problem with the PTJ. It has to be down to 5 degrees and under for it to be comfortable. I barely wore it last year.

TLDR - The Gabba is the most versatile bit of kit I own. Worth every penny.

Might have to get one of those new softshells. Loved my softshell, but hated how baggy it was.

I sold my softshell on because it was far too warm (and the pit zips opened the opposite way to what I thought they should so I ended up with cold arms instead of a cooler core.)

I will certainly be putting the PTSS onto my list for further investigation!
