Just foiled some bike thieves at my workplace. We have a side entrance on James street which cyclist use and, annoyingly, some pedestrians use too. It leads to the bike racks. I've just walked down James street when 2 guys in hivis, helmets and generic bikes closely followed by a chap in a blue puffa jacket on a Boris bike have done a sudden u turwhen they noticed someone coming out of our side gate. They dither a bit and puffa boy tries to get in but the gate shuts before he can. They lurk about waiting for someone else whilst I go round the front to inform security who then meet them at the side gate and give chase down wigmore street.
Unfortunately there are some appalingly locked and, in some cases, not locked at all bikes in our shed. Will send round a stern email to people tomorrow.
I've posted pics of these guys upthread; they were doing the same outside our bike park at UCLH hospital HQ building last year and I've seen them cruising round Fitzroy Sq and Folet Street checking bikes as well as National Theatre area
