@lucyh Sorry about the delay with this, but the Pompetamine isnt for sale any more...

I have to do a project for a friend.
Have they stoppped selling Pompetamine?
Will the old Pompino take Rotor 3D24 cranks?
What carbon cx forks that have mudguard mounts? Not too pricey ..
Are there any dedicated singlespeed hubs for 120mm spacing?Sadly Cotic Escapade is not in stock ..

• #4431
Yes I noticed that recently that Pompetamine frames aren't available any more.

I ordered this full carbon cx fork http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Carbon-Fork-Cyclocross-Trekking-440g-TR-FK025CF-For-Bike-Bicycle/924127527.html

maybe there is a disc cross (alu?) frame coming up. Would fit the current trend but dunno
-
• #4434
Much as I like my Pompetamine, if I was building it again, I'd opt for a Pompino frame paired with disc forks, purely for flexibility. Hub choice is limited for 135mm sliding dropouts, and fixed with two brakes (safety first, fun last) is only possible using a Surly 1x1 hub or much more expensive options. I'd use the Cane Creek long pull drop levers with a v-brake on the rear and BB7 MTB on the front.

Nice. Has mudguard eyelets? Maybe @amey would consider the Kinesis CX fork >>> http://www.kinesisbikes.co.uk/products/forks/cross/crosslight3-non-disc

Nah i don't think so (the alu part, that is)...

http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/FRPXKBD2/planet-x-kaffenback-2-framesetOnly one missing from the trio currently, just like pompino v3, kaffenback and pompetamine was. Same same but different. Atleast that's what i think.

Anyone selling a pompetamine frame perchance?

Cant believe On One's new model is called the Pickenflick.
-
• #4440
I can't believe anyone thinks it's new, it was launched this time last year.

• #4441
But there you go, I only saw it now.

Just bought a Pompino, does 140 quid full bike seems like a decent price? Planning on using it to get into cyclocross this year, anyone got any tips on how to get started? Few changes I want to make, first and foremost get a lower gear ratio, fit SPDs and give it a full clean and service as the seller says it's been standing for a while. Good story from the seller too, says he did LEJOG on it with his mate who had Sarcoma to raise money for Sarcoma research and they raised £24,500. It has a great sticker on it that says "hey Sarcoma, F**CK OFF!"
-
• #4443
Good price yep.
-
• #4444
That is my old bike.
Check out the sticker. It should read "Hey! Sarcoma! fuck you!", with the Bullheart logo beside it.
It's a great bike. Enjoy it.
-
• #4445
I was thinking as I read that, "didn't Bullheart have Sarcoma?".
£140 is a steal. One thing to watch is the amount of clearance on the earlier Pompino's and you may struggle to get a 32 mm wide cyclocross tyre in with any amount of clearance. The Michelin Mud 2s are 30 mm wide and give you a bit more space (it's what I run on my Pompino).

Great price.
As far as I can recall I was running 700C x 32 Schwalbe CX Pros on it.
-
• #4447
Haha that's great that it used to belong to a forum member. I'll take good care of it and plan to have some fun on it.
Close. It's got 700c X 30 schwalbe CX pros on it and the clearance is fairly tight. The sticker is great I'm definitely leaving it on. Especially as I work in a hospital with a fairly big sarcoma unit. -
• #4448
Which hospital?
-
• #4449
The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore.
I just read your story, Mate you are a legend. I know it's cheesy but you and your story really are inspirational.
When I'm riding this bike and I'm struggling I'll think about what the previous owner went through and I'll HTFU. -

This is so Posi!
The frame size will be the most important factor for that.
