Is fitting a 25.0mm post and 27.2mm shim a legit alternative to reaming my slightly corroded/tight seatube to allow me to put my seat up and down?

What's this 25.0 seatpost you speak of? (I'm on the lookout for one)

U.S.E posts were only supplied in 25.0mm for a while and you used a shin to make them fit your frame. I searched ebay earlier though and there's plenty posts available down to 25.0mm.

I just wondered if anyone had experience of issues from using such shimmed posts.
