I was in an animal-rights based thrash metal band called McDeth at school. Our message didn't close so much as one single slaughterhouse.

Vegetarian bacon that is as satisfying as actual bacon would.
Give people an alternative with good marketing to add value and they'll take it. See Quorn which is essentially a fungus grown in a vat.
Morals are all nice and well, but they can't beat a full fridge with nice stuff. Offer the nice stuff and people will come.
