That's a pretty spinny gearing, even for London.

Right now at your ages, you should be in a dirty little hostel in France working for a small team.

64 isn't that spinny for winter

How does winter make a difference? Do the wheels expand in the cold?

The waste heat from pedalling above your most efficient cadence keeps you warm.

I've just put a 19 tooth on the back for very hilly audaxing (just happen to live on / near Andy Corlass' turf) I've a double fixed on this bike, I've never had double fixed before.
So here's my question. Most t'internet ramblings say that a 1 tooth difference is best. But as already mentioned I live somewhere hilly - however, I do like riding to the coast. So I reckon a 2 tooth difference would be better. Am I right or is two teeth difference too much and I'll regret it on my next coastal run?
Currently have 48/17 and 48/19.

Best for what? Last time I rode out to a hill climb, I found a 5 tooth difference (16/21) was best :-)

5 tooth on a double fixed or did you change at the hill climb?

Turned the wheel around at the bottom, turned it back at the top.

47/18 isn't spinny.

It is if you're doing 25mph

Oh nice, I was thinking off sticking a 15 on for the flat coastal bits. Now I know it is do-able.

If you go from 19 to 15, your wheel moves back half an inch. Make sure that's still going to be in the track ends before you buy a sprocket :-)

I love the feel of 48/16, but one skid patch...

I think I'll skip the 17 and jump to a 16 on the back.

That's a pretty big jump, from 69GI to 78GI.
Go for the 17t, that work out 73GI.
Just where do you live that you actually find a normal ratio too spinny?
'Cross and track.
Well I guess I'd race a crit if one came up.
