  • Hi there,

it's been a while since I've posted here, been rather busy with everything but building bikes.

I'm currently working a new project which I hope you'll appreciate. Next to my current titanium Dedacciai I was looking to create a traditional looking bike but providing modern performance.

I purchased a Neo Primato frameset originally in the purple/yellow colourscheme as shown below:

The above setup was used to show the bike inside a dealership.

Instead of the yellow I prefer white so I had it repainted by a professional painter, just picked it up last week:

Speclist will turn out to be the following:

_ Campagnolo Athena silver polished groupset
    _ Campagnolo Record headset
_ Deda Elementi Newton Deep handlebar [polished]
_ Deda Elementi Superleggero stem [painted]
_ Campagnolo Chorus Aero seatpost [polished]
    _ Brooks Cambium C15 Slate saddle #1577
_ Silva twotone bartape [black and brown]
_ Wheelset will consist out of H Plus Son Archetype silver laced to silver Chorus hubs with DT Competition spokes

I'll post some updates whenever possible... Hope you like it!

  • we can be purple De Rosa buddies.

It has pedals and bottle cages now ;)

  • ^saddleangle

    Purple and white <3

  • _ Wheelset will consist out of H Plus Son Archetype silver laced to silver Chorus hubs with DT Competition spokes

Be brave, and use silver TB14s instead. Underrated, underused.

  • if you haven't bought that athena groupset yet....

  • TB14 would be too low for my taste I'm afraid.

I already sorted out the group and otherwise it wasn't what I was looking for anyway, would require a double and prefer the aluminum brakelevers too.

  • New colour skeme looks lush. Much nicer than yellow and purple.

  • Hubs are getting shipped today to the person whom is going to lace the wheels for me. Can't wait to see the end result.

    Thanks HHC.

  • Lovely frame with the white panels, although I think yellow would have looked nice too.

  • I have to say, I didn't mind the yellow but I feel purple and white is a more timeless combination. Also, regarding the saddle, tyres and bartape, white is easier than yellow to combine with.

  • I'm waiting om some essential parts before I can continue but to give you an idea of the result so far...

  • nice, very clean, what is the tire size and what's the biggest tire you can get away with?

  • Currently running 23 but this is not the final wheelset. I'll be running a 25 on a H Plus Son Archetype rim.

  • Really nice! Love the paint.

  • Many thanks. :)

  • Have you got a seatpost sorted? I have a Chorus aero seatpost I could sell you. It's actually the one in the picture of my De Rosa.

  • The frame with matching Deda stem and polished Athena parts is an absolute dream so far, but I agree that low profile rims like TB14 would look way better than Archetype.

Seatpost should be Chorus titanium or Centaur polished steel to match the Campa parts, or polished Deda RS01 to match the stem, handlebar and polished parts.

  • I've already got the seatpost sorted. Will be Chorus Aero polished, thanks for the offer. Seatpost should return together with the handlebar somewhere next week.

I received the wheels this week, I'm happy with the result despite some of you might rather see a low profile rim.

H Plus Son logo's are gone, all polished rim now, laced to Chorus hubs.

Please note that the tires are not final, these are 28mm from my Gazelle Tour de France. I used them only to get an idea. I'm looking for some nice 25mm options at the moment. I've got Vittoria / Veloflex or Clement in mind.

    Hope you like it!

  • Somehow the combination of tan side walls and silver rims doesn't seem to do the bike much good IMHO.

I suppose all white tires would look stellar on these wheels, but I am not sure if you actually still buy these. Below is a picture of some silver wheels I sold a while back with yellow tires, which looked spectacular.

  • That's not my cup of tea I'm afraid.

The tires I have mind are these, so a different finish than the ones in the picture. More yellowish but not as bright as the ones you posted.

  • Challenge criterium in white

  • How should I put it.....let's say I hate all colours on tires except black and tan/gumwall. ;) so I'll pass on that option too I'm afraid but thanks for thinking along.

  • Vitoria pavĂ© in black?

I agree that I don't think gum walls work as well as you'd expect.

The wheels look much better than I expected, it's probably down to getting rid of those awful logos. Did you do it yourself?

  • If the gumwalls don't match I'll go for a pair of full black Conti.

I should be receiving the vittorias tomorrow so I'll give it a go and share the result. :)

A client of mine was kind enough to lace these wheels for me and also did the polishing bit. I'm no wheelbuilder so I'll leave that to someone whom knows what he's doing.
