Probably texting and pissed. I imagine a two year ban and suspended jail term owing to her good charity work will be the outcome of thisWell Hit and Run/drink driving are only driving offences, not criminal offences. So she needed worry too much. Lesson being, if you're driving a car you can't commit murder or manslaughter

Chancellor George Osborne said the fines were part of a "long term plan that is fixing what went wrong in Britain's banks and our economy".
Pulling them up for the obviously illegal stuff is a start.
Will it extend to the less obvious illegal stuff, and the stuff that is inherently destabilising? Nothing in place at the moment would prevent another 2008 crash, nothing would prevent the same people making more money hand over fist from the same thing.

And so the world constantly makes progress towards a better society:

this kind of progress we can do without
" These feedlots are tough to fight because of so-called "ag-gag" laws in seven states, which bar the recording of undercover videos, photographs, or sound recordings at farms. Farms and livestock producers say the laws are aimed at protecting their homes and businesses from intruders, but critics say they have a chilling effect on whistle-blowing or investigative work. "

What can you do other than despair about a society that passes laws to stop people knowing the truth about what they're being fed? Not that the complacent fuckers would generally give a toss anyway.
I was in an animal-rights based thrash metal band called McDeth at school. Our message didn't close so much as one single slaughterhouse.

It's not 'society' that passes laws. :)

Vegetarian bacon that is as satisfying as actual bacon would.
Give people an alternative with good marketing to add value and they'll take it. See Quorn which is essentially a fungus grown in a vat.
Morals are all nice and well, but they can't beat a full fridge with nice stuff. Offer the nice stuff and people will come.
Any McDeth stuff online? :D

With bacon? Consider it done.
It is, it's best to flee and sober up, than to be caught drink driving, lesser charge.
