  • PRRRRRICE DROP down to £930

    hello!

I'm selling my relatively new Genesis Volare 10. OBVIOUSLY it's brilliant, 105 groupset, 853 steel, carbon forks, all top notch.

I'm just not doing long rides as much as I should be in order to justify having bought this. It's a great bike, and i love it, but i'm just not using it enough.

I've only taken it on 4 long rides, and i've commuted with it a handful of times so it's pretty new - a couple of scratches on the cranks but all very minimal.

Would be up for selling my Louis Garneau shoes too, these ones

    for saaaay, £45?

Can send more pics (just of the scratches on the cranks) if needed.

  • Wish i could justify the purchase too, great bike GLWS mate!

  • dropped dat price

  • and again, to £980 which is nothing short of a fahkin bargain.

  • I'm open to offers on this bad boy now. Taaaalk to me.

  • price drop again to £960.

  • Nice bike, but they be very heavy 853 frames (the rear triangle is only 725) - they weigh in at (56cm volare) 1950gr frame only.

I have a 1986 Reynolds 753 same size as yours, it weighs 1645gr....

Sometimes newer isn't always better :)

  • You forget to mention that the 1986 frame of your is flexy as fuck.

  • You wish! It's an Ilkeston build with about 400km on it. Pound for pound stiffer than any modern builds.

725 Reynolds chain and seat stays = cost cutting frame building. That's all.

  • I'm still very skeptical, considering the tubing isn't oversized.

  • Genesis are your modern Scrooge bike builders - they save £120 from every frameset by only supplying an 853 main triangle. In profit terms, that's huge.

Every time you buy one, they're robbing you 120 notes! 853 rear triangle is going to be massively more rigid and robust (especially as its air hardening) over a typical brazed 725 rear end. And 753, in a lugged construction is going to beat it hands down.

Its just down to bean counters now, which is why the rush to carbon, as the profit margins/manpower/low skill cost are significantly better than actually building a frame.

In the trade, the story goes the real origin of Genesis frames is the Philippines..

  • Bike company aims for profit shocker.

  • Stay away from Genesis Howard, they use low quality super flexy 725 stay, apparently they're the bad kind.

    #themoreyouknow

  • Obviously the rear end will crumble under my mega-watts

  • I have the full 725 Genesis Equilibrium, it's great. Just saying !

  • Dagnabbit, none of this is relevant, but thank you for the florid discussion.

  • Price drop down to £950 which is ruinously cheap

  • Free bump for excellent use of the word 'florid'

  • .. even if there was nothing particularly florid about it. Personally, I'd be more inclined to give props for the use of the word 'ruinously'.

  • If you split..dibs on frame and fork

  • It pays to be a professional journalist, is what this feedback is telling me. Not financially, but in praise. Which in many ways is worth considerably more.

  • When you first posted this I wanted it and I would still like it. I can't justify it as I have an 853 Ribble and a lovely Lynskey, but still I like this Volare. Good luck and that.

  • It's almost the new year, mazel tov! To celebrate, I'm hoping to get my life back on track and have dropped the price of this fabulously Jamaican flag-esque 'whip' to £945 which equates to a disastrous loss for me, but a good deal for you. £945, let's do this. It's a really great bike, and with that paint job is totally Cool Runnings.

  • Hi, it's me again! this time, droppin the fahkin price again. Now down to a bargain bin-style £940.

  • Dropping it down another £5, because i'd like to sell it. That's a good reason. They're going for crazy money all over the ship, this is dangerously cheap. let's do this or i might have to put it on blahdy ebay and i dont wanna. £935.
