New here but familiar with the Marshes, worth spending a bit of time on the nature reserve, I saw a group of seals last time I was down there.
I'm still looking for a pleasant route from Barking onwards, although big bus lanes mean that at least it's uneventful.
There's a coastal path that runs all the way to Leigh on Sea and an offroad route that goes to South End, I've not explored either yet.

Gravesends my old manor. When you get off the ferry, you'll hit a one way system going the exact wrong way that takes you the whole ciruit route of the town, but if you walk the bikes 2 mins west along the road past "regents court" retirement flats, you can bypass it and follow the river, connecting with the main London road through Northfleet further up.

We have ridden down that way quite a bit but for the purpose of this ride will use the A13 cycle path then Goresbrook/New Rd.
Drop down from Rainham to the concrete barges then make our way to Tilbury from there.I rode the A13 back from Rainham once..

Thanks for that, this ride is a reverse recce so next year on the Grain ride we would be coming along the south side of the river.
To mix it up and have some fun we are going to check out the north bank and take the ferry at Tilbury. -

Just saw this, sorry man. Hope its going well. Gonna sort a new wheelset this week and up for trialling route again or whatever.
Weather permitting: ride to Tilbury Ferry, cross Thames, ride back this Saturday.
I want to explore the river paths on both sides so possible doubling back may be required*. 97KM, Mostly traffic-free, some busy roads. No Sunday best, can be a bit messy down there.
Start London Fields 9:00
Bring:
Big tyres
Beer
£3.00 for the ferry
Warm clothes & gloves
*Ridden the North side all the way from Rainham to Tilbury twice this year. Is possible path may be blocked.
South I need to find a better way through for my Grain ride so we will check out the bumpy trail along the coast.
