Tricross headset
Probably a Specialized proprietary "hiddenset" or whatever they decided to call it that year. My Sirrus had a similar thing, where the cups were hidden and almost impossible to remove. The cages are different sizes top and bottom, I'd remove them both and replace with loose balls, will feel much better.

So anyone have any idea what sort of headset a Tricross takes...? Converting to trail baby bike (from commuter) baby seat will be in back.
