I think it's the pack mentality, rather than all members of clubs being dicks.
Nah, too many new people joining club thinking they're all that, and 50 years old veteran who think they don't need to learn how to ride in a group properly because they've been doing it for "four decades".

So joke alert.
To elaborate, a bias that a taxi driver is probably going to drive like a moron has saved my teeth a few times. But if that bias turns me into an asshole whenever I see one...well you get the gist.

Would you rather be a dead optimist or a living asshole?
-
• #10805
The other option is to be prepared all the time, this way you won't get caught out.
-
• #10806
Just because you're paranoid...
-
• #10807
Not really, just be ready to perform emergency stop, instead of going all gung-ho like @FixedStar

You can't control how they drive - I don't think anyone is going to persuade them to use their indicators, even if the controller is located only an inch from their hand - but you can control how you react to them.

Exactly. I assume they're all legally blind.
But as you say, if I get pissed off or not, that's under my control :)

Since I started cycling with the mindset that every driver and cyclist is liable to do the worst thing possible in every circumstance I'm very rarely surprised by the fuckwittery.

@JWestland is legally blind slang for on the phone?
-
• #10812
Perhaps I should call it "Being in possession of eyes to be able to look for other road users, but choosing not to do so".
On the phone covers it too, or giving about 2 inches overtaking room if you let them...
In all fairness there's taxi drivers that are very good drivers, even some white van men are really good, but I hedge the bets on them being not.

On that note, has any of you ever managed to get a change in behavior by a polite conversation? Cos it's always seems to turn into somebody feeling attacked, no matter what. I've tried a few times, but meh. Waste of good energy it seems.
Shouting at ppl gives some adrenaline but again won't fix the issue it seems.
My middle finger to mr taxi driver that decided to overtake last minute after slowing down initially, of course near a traffic island with no room for me +him even though he could see me looking behind to check obv. wasn't going to help his driving... ^=^ <---I confess to pointless road rage

Lucas Brunelle? Y no video?

This story is extremely strange and confusing.
Maybe the cyclist in question could make a rad video about it.
Edit: goddamnit, TW got there first

I often punch with my feet. Maybe we should come up with a new name for feet punches?

@NurseHolliday could call them funches but it has fun in it so maybe promotes violence?
