I think it's the pack mentality, rather than all members of clubs being dicks.

To a degree I agree, but doesn't pack mentality tend to disappear when the rest of the pack disappears?

But then confirmation bias kicks in. You see a London Dynamo cyclist riding like a dick, you don't think "Asshole", you think "London Dynamo are assholes". You see a London Dynamo cyclist riding responsibly and considerately...
