• A lot of things look the same from that period.

    Trickle down innit.

If you have the time and the inclination, it can be "rewarding" to sit down and track components through the catalogues and pick the bargains: one year's Chorus, is Athena two/three years down the line. To preserve Record's value, its components rarely got handed-down: '95/'96 Chorus being the only exception that springs to mind.

Having said that, if you value function over form, the chances are you're not still using 8 speed. :)

I forgot to mention the FD: it's 2nd generation Chorus (RS), which I believe to be ex-Croce D'Aune (with a change of braze-on clamp nut). It's distinguished from the same FD issued to lower groups, by having a chamfer at the end of the arm (presumably to save a gramme or two): if you look down on it (as if you were on the bike) and check the arm where the cable clamp bolt is, you'll see one side is at an angle as if it's been filed off.

@Halbert knows his way around 8 speed Campag: it'll be interesting (and maybe embarrassing for me) to see what his opinion is...

  • I've done some research in the catologues, and I'm pretty sure I have the parts correct now.

The rear mech isn't centaur. The MTB groupset mech had a little tab sticking out at nearby the lower pulley. I'm pretty sure it's a 1992 Chorus mech, with an older cable adjuster. Also the back of the mech is looking newer then 1991.

Thanks for noticing the chamfer. I didn't noticed that, so now I can defenitely say it's Chorus.

Also the headset is Chorus. It hasn't got the steel frame where the balls are kept in place with. But it's a more like plastic material.

I also checked the cranks for a code, but I only found the length of the cranks, and a tap size. I didn't knew this where Record cranks. I thought this shape crank only came in the C-Record group.

And you are right with the brake levers. They are from 1993. But they don't have a carbon Fibre body. They have a aluminium body. 1994 was the first year that they where using carbon fibre for the body.

And now I'm really unsatisfied with my thread title. It turns out nothing is coming from a C-record group!
