I usually ignore headtube length as they can varies due to fork length and BB drop.
These don't really vary much between race bikes though do they?

Christ your mudguard a mess!
I'm still impressed by how forward your saddle is, apologise for not being chatty at LMNF, twisted muscle on my back kept me quiet.

Thanks for the info on the Genesis, the gunmetal does look excellent too. I'm really liking that frame fork combo. Seems ideal if your not concerned about outright speed, but more about enjoying the ride and durability.

• #505
don't confuse heavy with durable.
-
• #506
@sohi it's not that heavy and it's surely be more durable than highly stressed "waffer thin" 953 steel or carbon. By durability I mean surviving light knocks or the bike falling and being hit in just the wrong spot etc. It's clearly not a racing bike so who cares if it's ~500g heavier than an equivalent carbon or alu thing?

Carbon doesn't get dented.

Carbon snaps.

Sounds like a new breakfast cereal.

Their motto should be "it happen before you know it!".

Eds right. Even within my relatively small shortlist for a New road bike there where big differences.
Some of the aero road bikes had massive headtubes, for a given stack, to get the most out of the 3:1 rule.
Yet some where the opposite. The Scott foil has a fork 15mm longer than most, and Argon 18 have 8mm more BB drop than most. These were all race bikes, specifically all aero race bikes, yet you could be 20mm out With Your front end height if only looked at head tube length.

I see.
Can't they all decide what's aero and stick to it ;-)
-
• #513
Argon 18 reckon as no ones using wide pedals With Clips anymore. They can lower the BB for better handling. Appealled to me as I use 165mm cranks anyway.
No idea why Scott have such a massive fork.
I think I stumbled apon a few Extremes within a pretty specific bike type. Meant I needed to sit Down and calculate the BMCs stack, as it wasnt listed.

A lower BB means less drag when in a group. Although not if you're riding with with other Agron 18s...

Dear god

Schttapppp

I have to be honest and admitt to having considered that. Although genitics has already given me a few dosen centimeters of 'group-aeros'.
I was Reading about a Team GB pursuit rider that offered to have is collar bones shortened for better Aeros.
Thats on the track where they dont even have strava. Just Medals.

Maybe it might be worth thinking about not having those normal jersey with everything you own crammed into the back pocket.
-
• #519
Just need to eat loads of pies so that my jerseys are tight surely.

Flappy flappy.

That jersey was around my knees.
All the flapjacks!
Shoe covers to compensate though.

• #522
Haven't you heard? Specialized wind tunnel found all but Smart overshoes (£80) and Pearl Izumi (out of production) slower than uncovered S-works shoes.
-
• #523
I'm looking at all the drag created by those poker straight forearms and tut-tutting.
-
• #524
For best aero gain, bottle cages should be mounted behind the saddle, not on bicycle.

To be honest both the TT shoe covers and helmet are a result of living in such cold climate. No need for venting.
Me too, I really like how they feel and the comfty hood, but the peak is really difficult not to ignore.
