Is it time to start calling out bad cyclists?

  • On a rare outing on foot in Battersea last night, I called a guy out for riding his bike on the pavement and he stopped and pulled a knife on me.

I always knew being a ped was dangerous.

  • Dorking cycling club, pack of wankers

  • cycling clubs, packs of wankers

    FTFY.

  • Didn't know you were local to me.

  • Is that in reply to my cycling club comment? Coz I think that's a phenomenon on at least national level!

  • Some utter idiot going the wrong way down stratford high street's segregated cycle lane last night towards bow roundabout. Almost pitch black, no lights. Had to swerve and asked if she had a deathwish. Blank face response. Excellent.

  • It was; I had assumed I was in a hotspot of club-fuckery...

  • I wish you were!

  • this happens to me almost daily on Alan Turing Way in Manchester, 9 times out of 10 it's the same guy too. I've stopped and called him out on it many times and each time he just smiles at me until I leave.

  • Some people are beyond help. Just can't break their code.

  • Kidneypunch time?

    Or shoulder-check?

  • I was thinking more like this...

but I would be the only one with a lance.

  • Another bell end going down the non segregated cycle lane on the lane near work...on the wring end of the road. Wazzock.

Followed by a thundercunt racing down a mixed cyclist/pedestrian area, jumping off the kerb into the road while its green for cars...with no lights. Isn't it great Belfast can afford street lights.

  • cycling clubs, packs of wankers

    FTFY.

    +1

  • A uniformed roadie hurt your feelings now thousands of strangers are wankers?

  • ARAB? Hmmm?

  • I was going to make a comment about a particular club that go round richmond park... Then realised there were few clubs that don't act like dicks when in a big enough group.

I think it's the pack mentality, rather than all members of clubs being dicks.

Back to the calling out, riding home through Richmond park someone clearly deciding to ride on the right for no reason I could tell looking petrified when he realised that I wasn't slowing down or moving from the left...

For anyone who overtakes on the narrow path that goes through the middle of the park, I only ride the polo bike and mtb bike through there and have no qualms crashing headfirst into someone while I'm on either of those bikes.

  • the wring end of the road

Is that a really twisted bit of road? :)

  • I think it's the pack mentality, rather than all members of clubs being dicks.

To a degree I agree, but doesn't pack mentality tend to disappear when the rest of the pack disappears?

  • It's like getting ready to go out, or cycling on roads after singletrack, the emotions leak into the moments before joining the pack and last for a while after leaving it (cf all the crashes that happen just after lfgss group rides! :)

  • Hah, well spotted! :)

It's actually a nice wide & straight road, but still an sign of cuntery in my book. Happens occasionally near where I live too...where there's no room to go at all.

  • But then confirmation bias kicks in. You see a London Dynamo cyclist riding like a dick, you don't think "Asshole", you think "London Dynamo are assholes". You see a London Dynamo cyclist riding responsibly and considerately...

You mark it in your diary as a really special day.

  • You see a London Dynamo cyclist riding responsibly and considerately...
    ...and then you wake up.

  • Shall we just go "hell is other people" and leave it there? ;)
