Nah seriously though any chain tensioners experience.
-
• #2178
nah, seriously, they're not needed. Get some knurled nuts, such as these http://www.velodromeshop.net/index.php?p=catalog&parent=59&pg=1
or if you must chain tensioner, then the 10mm version of these will be fine

Seriously I am pretty sure if you whip skid regularly you'll need em
-
• #2183
Yeah those gusset ones are a faff. Sven use to have some on his old Ribble TT bike.
I ordered some MKS 8mm tensioners for Alu track frames.

Will let you know if they fit and work well. Also Allan key means less faffing -

I find chain tensioners are needed if DAWS - (I Do A Whip Skid) on a regular to slow down. Haters can hate I don't care. Brakeless is just how I like it.
No I don't want a front brake.
Yes I do like the thrill and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSJoD3YQenE
.Fixed*Star - much love

No one gives a shit about whether you skid or whip skid or are brakeless or whatever, you're in no more need of chain tensioners than anyone else. They are not needed.
-
• #2188
Chain tensioners are only used to make adjusting the chain tension easy. They are not made to take the force of pedaling or braking. You are not doing the nuts up enough
-
• #2189
They are made to also maintain the wheel position no matter how much abuse you throw at it. The bike I used before had integrated chain tensioners. Wheel position Never slipped once in 3 years abuse, accidents etc. love it.
Hope the Dolan gives a similar experience.
Thanks for the advice on the wheel nuts. Those are the exact track ones I currently use from the Velodrome shop.
I'll test out on the Dolan without the MKS that I bought once I get it up and whipping.
Much love.

You are wrong. Notice how even the item you bought is labeled as a "chain adjuster"
Enjoy your whipping -
• #2191
better off spending money on a long 15mm spanner
-
• #2192
Pretty sure those MKS ones wont work on a precursa anyway
-
• #2193
Got the 15mm and 14mm spanner
-
• #2194
I thought it was the 5mm ones that won't work. Hence the 8mm ones were released specifically for larger Alu frames.
The 5mm ones are for steel frames.

Was it a different rear wheel too?

CHAIN TUGS, YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT CHAIN TUGS.
IT TUGS THE CHAIN.
-
• #2198
If this man needs no chain tugs please explain how you do.
-
• #2199

Yeah, tightening the wheel nuts too will help.
