  • Are they going to re-release the all-steel equilibrium, Ed?

  • My rychtarski would be perfect ;) all (good) steel, threaded BB, 1 1/8 threadless, mudguard mounts etc.

  • The all-steel one have disc mount.

^ these guys will get you what you want built in Italy for ~ 800.

Half that (and some hunting) buys an excellent condition or NOS frame with a story and some history – you might have to have a threaded fork.

  • A shame. Thanks for clarifying though

  • Rychtarski/Orlowski would be cheaper no?

The NOS route is very good too. You have a 'working spine' as miro puts it ..

  • you might have to have a threaded fork.

a lots of OTP steel frame I've seen tend to have those (like Brother Cycles).

  • Almost certainly, because there is not a middleman dealing with your order. With these guys you get a bikefit and a decent consultation (in English)... and they answer their phones/emails. It's an (expensive) option.

  • Interesting.

I think you're right; any UK builder could meet the spec easily. I'm having trouble getting motivated to go custom though- I haven't got strange geometry needs, and I almost feel like I don't deserve it (hard to put into words).

  • just look for some reasonable racey '90s steel. If you want it shiny a quality respray is only £100 away, although the internet might cry at you for puppy killing. this is the route I am currently taking.

  • I was under the impression that the old frame doesn't have that much saddle to bar drop on account of those classic bar whose brake lever is halfway down, especially considering that they don't show a lots of seatpost;

  • It would, but cost would be offset by going to a UK fitter first.

Incidentally I am quite flexible, but I don't have much saddle-to-bar drop on my bikes. And yet I'm still quite low, at least by normal standards. Back well past 45 degrees etc.

  • I think Rychtarski have a very democratic (I guess) pricing which means you deserve it #BuyerLogic .. You can draw a BikeCAD based on your fit with Scheritt, crosscheck and CAAD10 and other experiences. What miro said is very true. Communication is bit of an issue with them but Patrick ( @Captain_P ) has commissioned two without speaking Polish ..

  • By the way, if anyone want that helmet, it's a Met Super Buddy.

  • Buyer logic indeed! :)

"Deserve" was the wrong word but I couldn't think of a better one.

  • What are you getting? Is it another look?

  • Go custom rich you deserve it

  • Long term, yes, but no-one seems to be selling one in my size at the moment so I've gone for a Serotta to tide me over instead. And it's going in for a respray tomorrow.

  • @amey your rychtarski is sitting in no mans land halfway between the cost of a new pacer at the low end, and a rychtarski custom to my own spec at the high. Also, it's blue, right? which is very much your style and slightly less mine... It is otherwise lovely though.

  • I actually bought it used off @Captain_P :P he styled it. But both aesthetics and fit is perfect.

  • Cheers I based it on our Catford Banks under 23 team bike colour scheme

  • Lovely. Is there a thread? I assume its a @dammit -esque project (quill, ultegra, tubs etc?

Edit: just noticed the link in your post.

  • A respray is just £100 away...

  • Not quite dammit-esque. Period correct with a bit of retro fantastic, for a given value of retro.

  • Stop throwing spanners. You don't have to set them up as in 1990.

My Concorde is 55.5cm square and it works great for winter with a 130mm stem. I have more post showing than was the norm years ago, but less than on most compact geo bikes.
