Got my cranks working with a spiderless ti chainring after lots of faffing with seals and spacers for the bb as well as some different bars for a change in positioning. She looks and feels well but with all the mud today i came off on some slippery wood and winded myself for the first time since i was a teen - forgot how horrible it felt!
next step is a bigger tyre on the rear and considering changing the 29er front for a 27.5+ for super low pressures and grittiness; although my full sus will be finished next week so i'll split the off-road time between the two. Definitely getting nathan to stitch me up some custom trekking bags for my hammock and camping crap -

Been saving for a while and still had some money from my old Ron Cooper being written off, Geoff Roberts has joined our Catford CC and has started building frames again.
He has built me this from Columbus Steel Spirit tubing, very light steel frame with carbon forks and sprayed it with a touch of 'Claret & Gold' our club colours.Trying to find what I can afford to do it justice, I might have to dip in to the car welding fund :)

friend of mine has same frameset, where did you get it from ? she bought it at bike jumble(manchester velodrome)

I bought this from DragunovCZ1 who bought it from HillyBen, who i believe bought it from a father and son who both had matching frames, also at manchester velo. A few years ago now though!

Cheers! I think the only thing I need to buy is forks and tyres and I've got myself a parts bin build. Hopefully the forks and tyres will end up on the eventual geared build, which means that the dodgy parts bin, fat tyred, winter fixed gear, anti porn fest more or less counts as free?

That Geoff Roberts frame looks incredible by the way. The paint is ace.

I'm thinking of building a steel road bike around an otp frame. Something like a surly pacer, but lighter would be nice of possible. I want to stick with a standard (british) bottom bracket, and like the idea of steel forks rather than carbon. Mudguard compatibility is optional as I already have a winter/ touring bike and fixed with full guards.
What's out there other than the surly? If it costs too much I'd just go custom, so since a pacer can be had for circa £350 as a frame set I guess it could be my only option. But surely there's an alternative that I've missed. Hit me with your suggestions.

Been there :)

Cheers, I do like the look of the all city but I'm really over press fit bottom brackets. Threaded just works better (or at least is simpler and works adequately) for my needs.

None of the options I sent work out? @JB got a volare from Paul Milnes ..
Given you are not a 'buyer' like me and have bikes longer than say a month think about the custom route. Rychtarski + paint matched Columbus Hiver fork wouldnt cost earth .. their work is getting impressive .. https://www.facebook.com/RychtarskiBicycleWorkshop?fref=ts
If I was you I wouldn't look anywhere between the pacer price mark and custom. Fitzrovia has the new pacer on display btw.

That's the sort of thinking I've been doing. I just can't believe that there would be literally only one option (I.e. pacer) with that spec (I.e. all steel, BSA bb, caliper brakes) at that pricepoint.
Maybe I'm against the grain of consumerism and should be grateful that there's anything available otp that comes near my 'needs' :)

Genesis are Surly of the UK so once/if they release their 2015 offerings you could find something similar but cheap in their range. Chances are it'll have a carbon fork .. that is IF you dont want matching bikes ;)

Do you have 2015 frameset pricing ed? does it include everything shown in picture?
And no canyon are 'cracking' modern road bikes ..

Actually I don't mind that colour, but di2 is not my cup of tea, and id prefer a steel fork.

Only the headset, it's £450.

Matching bikes is tempting. Think I'd need to see the pacer in the flesh to figure out if I can deal with the current colour scheme though. It looks awful in some pictures (and OK in others).
Looks awesome! I'm planning to get the 650b version when it's released and build for some light touring
