Well that was a very old post you found. The ring was the stock ring that comes with the s300 crankset. So 3/32 width, deeper teeth and no shift pins and ramps like you get on a geared chainring. Chain never feel off.
Got on with it just fine, have been on double ring for a few years now though as single is a bit crap when you get to >10% or so
