We didn't. We both get death in service payouts with our pensions, have family that could help short term with mortgage payments if necessary, and both agreed if one of us shuffled off the other one would sell the house. Yes bit of a problem if it happens to be during a period of negative equity but meh. T'other half earns enough to cover payments and eat, would be a bit trickier for me.

A question for everyone with a mortgage, did you also take out life assurance/critical illness cover/income protection cover/all of the above? It's another expense but seems like it is quite a worthwhile one.
