Pompino mud clearance (at least on the rear, I'm using a different fork) isn't so bad for proper cyclocross. Mud tyres are generally a bit thinner and should give reasonable amounts of room for mud.

quite a bargain that canti version frame only. Cheaper than pompino and a lot nicer, or atleast fresh.

How's the chain tensioned? Eccentric BB?

Magic gear I think. Quoted as 8.4kg 'w/o tensioner' on twitter. Belongs to Matt Brown.

Be wary that the top tube is long on hybrid compare to road bike.
Can't see why not.

new stem, although it is awful. 12 euros and 105grams, really flexy.

looks still really great

oh and new disc rotors. Went from the original to kcnc razors. Originals were 115grams a piece and the new ones 74g. Didnt notice any dramatic change in the brake performance, but loosing 80 grams in a relatively cheap way is great.

New to the site but thought I'd make a quick post just to get my feet wet so to speak!
I've had a 2012 Giant TCX for almost 3 years and just this year started taking part in CX races here in Scotland. Great fun but just to make life more difficult I went SS.
The pic is of my temporary setup which consists of a 17T cog with spacers on the standard hub, and a DIY tensioner. The tensioner is just an old Sora? Rear mech which I cut off the lower jockey wheel. I've race with this setup and it has been fine, no issues!
The TCX is currently at the engineering shop having track style rear forkends manufactured and welded in place to eliminate the tensioner.
Don't have a full shot of the bike but done a few changes! Will get some shots one I get the bike back!

Welcome. Looks good, got more pics of the whole bike. I love the ghetto chain tensioner.
Did you ride the race at Irvine recently? That looked a lot of fun and whoever came up with the name Joksidje deserves a drink!

Yip Irvine was my first race on a SS, tough work with that headwind in the valley! Didn't do quite as well as I would have on a geared bike but that's to be expected! Not sure who came up with the name, Neil I guess from the club (walkers cycling).

The ghetto chain tensioner is a great ideas, it look like it's protruding noticably compare to a chain tensioner.
-

Yeah it does stick out a bit but can take a bit of a battering without moving position due to setting the adjustment screws - got the job done for a few weeks anyway!

Butchered mech > cheap tensioner.
Mech has less play and possibly better spring than cheapo tensioner. Sure you can probably get a tensioner that'll do a better job if you're willing to pay but last time I rode ss on a vert dropout I used a mech.
If you are building a fun gravel grinder where it isn't a catastrophe when the chain skips the teeth on the chain tensioner, then the Trek will do you good.
