Pre 1996 HED3 converted to front. BIG PICS

Having found that no kit to convert a pre 1996 rear HED3/Spec/whatever to a front wheel, I decided to design a conversion myself.

The freehub body is simply replaced with a machined boss that is held in place with the cones of a front axle. Will experiment using without a bonding agent for some miles to see if necessary.

Is this something people would be interested in?

Yes it is a cassette/freehub wheel. Surley make the 'fixxer' that converts certain freeHUBBED models to fixed but my design converts the other freehub systems to a front.

I'm not suggesting this is a problem crying out for a solution, but thought people may be interested in seeing what I have done.

Ok.
I slightly bored out the freehub threads in the hub to accept the boss, ill make up a sketch to see how it goes without boring the wheel centre.

Also, good luck finding the tool to remove that freehub

Nice, pending price I reckon the HHSB thread will love you for this.

This one is not my machining, was done from Pollinger and Warren from my own CAD file.
Ill think about pricing etc when im happy that it works and is safe for miles.

what is the piece called that you are using to hold the bearings on?

its a custom made bearing cup?
