I feel like a frame being lugged deserves 2 maybe even 3 fewer exclamation points. Or do you walk around town looking at bikes locked up yelling: "OMFG LUGS!!! LUGS EVERYWHERE!!!" ?
GLWS, etc.

I actually do! and I don't see so many nicely lugged fames.
but if that bothers you, my apologies.
Thanks -

Metal, colour and things aren't sexy - people are!

Anything can be sexy or erotic.....in this case the colour which is evocative...of a certain shade of lipstick....it is context....yes people can be sexy....but not necessarily.
Bump for a sexy frame....shame not smaller!

The first people I was aware of describing inanimate objects, or concepts, as sexy were financiers and politicians. Enough said.
If you genuinely think that a bike frame can be sexy - i.e. it arouses you - then you're weird. That said, each to their own...
-
• #18
Perhaps you miss my point....and I did not use the word arouse....but I was talking about the colour and its erotic context....but...this is not an argument....I use sexy in a loose way.... I am no financier but remain a socialist....but politics is messy not sexy!
-
• #19
I think you miss my point - it is not 'colour' you find sexy, surely? You find the effect colour might have on a particular individual; some girls look better wearing one shade, others another.
I could describe to you what it is about this bike I find aesthetically appealing (GLWS), but of a girl I could not - at least, not in a way you could genuinely relate. Sexual attraction is magic, and in its sincere form can not be articulated; it is visceral.

"The people I want to shoehorn into this argument describing inanimate objects, or concepts, as sexy were financiers and politicians. Enough said."

Amusing, but not true:
1 - A few years back, some politician described the need to 'sex up' some dossier, and was roundly lampooned for saying so.
2 - I spent a few years working in the financial sector (in a detached capacity) and it was the sort of thing I head people saying a lot.
3 - I would also like to add sport pundits to this list - especially those who concern themselves with football. In any case, describing something as sexy when it does not concern sex just sounds stupid to my ears - it's an affectation.

Sorry guys we can discuss for centuries if you want, but
I see this bike as something extremely sexy, agree with marxist_vulcan.Anyone for a sexy frame?

Bottecchia 989 frame, from my personal experience, is one of the nicest Italian frames I've owned / ridden, with possibly the crappiest paint scheme of any frame I've ever seen.
What it may have is a hidden delight however, with the most amazing perfectly chromed forks under that ghastly red paint.
I decided to have my frame refinished in the classic black & chrome SCIC/Bottecchia colours. I stripped the paint to send the forks to be polished/chromed, only to find they were immaculately polished / chromed already! (possibly the best I've ever seen).
My guess is that these frames were hanging around at Carnielli after steel became unfashionable, so they painted them up as cheaply as possible to shift them out of the door.
I paid £70 for mine NOS some years ago, possibly one of my better buys in life.CicloMondo do all the decals to refinish the frame (various types over the years, but strangeley no demand for the crap 989 decals!) . They do the gold foil headtube badge which no-one else appears to do.
Selling My beloved Bottecchia as I upgraded to a stiffer ride.
The frame is in great condition, no dings, no dents, no rust,
just few minor paint chips here and there.
It comes with Campagnolo sealed bottom bracket (plenty of life left) and
Ofmega Head set which might need replacement.
Rear spacing is 130 mm, I had a Campagnolo Daytona 9 speed on it and worked just fine.
For this reluctant sale I would like 150£
