• Hi everybody !!! I was offered this set of track hubs for U$S 120. I would like to know if someone in this forum knows about them or has tested them. The seller informed me that they are high end hubs manufactured in Taiwan. I later confirmed their origin from the website of the brand.

Doing some research I found the guys at BLB don´t sell their hubs but their crankset and provide the following description:

"This is one high end performance track crank that you have been waiting for.
Used by the Japanese Track Team, the RIDEA 3D Track crank is produced from the finest worldwide materials, including top quality Swiss 7150-T7 aluminium for the crank arms and German 6-4 Titanium for the spindle on the Ti version.

I have ruled out phill wood due to the high price so I had in mind a set of not very expensive Dura Ace or Paul Components. Do you consider Ridea is better than the mentioned brands?

I wish you guys tons of good rides !!!

  • I Don't know them but they look solid. Cartridge bearings I guess? As long as those are good there is no problem.
I prefer loose ball bearings though (like Dura Ace) because I find it easier to maintain.

  • how many times a year you need to replace cartridge bearings vs. cleaning da7600?

    thought so.

    to op:

the hubs have the same look as basic novatec's, which is not a bad thing and novatec's are proper hubs for little money. If these are $120 though i'd buy maybe Halo's or other well known brand as I wouldn't invest that sort of money in Taiwanese hubs.

But they look nice and if you open the covers in both ends and slip some vaseline under them before closing again you get bearings that are well protected against elements.

  • these might be a better option and cheaper

  • I said: "I prefer" :)
And I only open mine up once a year. Cleaning and repacking my hubs is my after winter Zen moment

  • I'm riding these hubs on my H+sons. Super light and stiff. I ride a bianchi super pista and switch between my trispoke and 80mm carbon rear wheels. I have to say I prefer riding the Ridea set up. They just don't look as good as the 'track bike set up' but they feel a lot lighter.
