The TRP HY/RD is the first of it's kind, it's not without teething problem, and the 2015 model come with the most updated version that have the issues ironed out (sticky piston, not enough oil to allow auto adjusting pads, etc.).
The main issues is merely the pads which can easily be worn out in winter, swapping them out for the Shimano non-organic does the trick.
The other good thing about the Genesis is that they learnt that having compressionless housing make all the difference, which even the budget cable pull disc bikes now have.
The HY/RD after some fiddling and swearing is the closest you can get to the feel of a full hydro, it just miss that tiny little sharp bite we tend to feel with a full hydro.
Ashima is now going to bring out their own version after realising that the majority of mid to high end road/cx bicycle come with HY/RD and want in.

About the 2015 version of the HY/RD, do you know if they've done anything about the lever throw @edscoble? I want to get them but I'm worried about what the throw will be like on my Sram Apex levers.
Yeah, that'd be cool Ed - otherwise, do you have a 54 built in stock? was mainly thinking I could swap all parts I have onto the frame. Plus some PDW guards. Acid yellow, black parts and dark grey anodised guards would be a nice combo.
I didn't realise you could get cable actuated hydros though, so it piqued my interest. I'm guessing they won't have the finesse and modulation of full hydraulics which is really the main benefit I guess. Hmm, must research.
