Sheldon's table here, so you can compare "doable" and "optimal".
Ultimately, you're the only person who can tell us whether you will feel it.
Personally I wouldn't mix skinny rims with 28mm tyres again, but I didn't die!
Or did I? Whoooo.....

25c Pavé's on wide rims (17mm internal channel), do they run true or wider?
-
• #954
Yeah I've seen Sheldon's table. Did you find it noticeably flaky on corners?
(Academic question now since I am also a cautious type, I'm not doing it!) -
• #955
I've got them on Archetypes and they are pretty true, ie around 25.5mm.

cheers, hate that green, but all black = purchased

It's quite few years ago now and I expect the tyres were pretty basic and that they were probably at too high a pressure, but I do remember thinking something didn't feel right: squirmy and unsettling, enough to make me swap them out.

The pros roll on green, let everyone know you roll like a pro.

Gah! Descisions! But my inner fashion icon is winning out over my inner pro-look fanboy

Ugh. Do Not Want.

I ran 29mm on Mavic Aksium before, I have to inflate them a little more than I like to reduced that squirmy feel when cornering, it's only a little more comfortable than the 23mm it replaced despite bigger contact point.
I'd be better off with a 25/26mm tyres.
Having said that, a 25mm tyres on a wide rims (17mm internal) felt a lots closer to a 28mm at the same pressure without the squriming.

Here's a mindfck for you: most of those Pros at ParisRoubaix are using big tyres on 20mm rims. Call the cops!

I have very good experiences with 35c slick tyres on narrow rims - cornering, rolling resistance all-up.

Looking for a good set of 25mm winter tyres. Just want to see what people advise. I've used 4Seasons before which are nice but I want to see my alternatives!

Welcome friend, welcome.
Did you go for "Legendary Hardmen of European Cycling" green, or "Wives & Girlfriends" black?
-
• #971
Almost bought a pair of those but they changed the pattern for 32 and above, still probably alright on road I guess...

^ Anyone know of any UK/EU stockists of those Gravelkings in 28?
Other than Winstanleysbikes who say that they're all in stock, when they're most likely not.

I've been running the green Open Pave GC III 25mm (run at 25.5mm) on 23mm wide rims recently and am really happy with them - I feel very confident cornering in the wet at speed etc... just added some pdw guards to the bike and am so close to getting them to work, clearance is pretty tight so I've picked up some cheap 23mm Rubino Pro's on here (apparently run around 24mm) to see if sizing down will solve the 'just slightly rubbing on guard when seated' problem on the rear wheel...
While I wait for the new tyres to turn up, my question is will I notice a huge difference between the Pave and Rubino Pro? anyone know how greatly the tyre compound differs? would anyone want to buy a lightly used, 2 month old pair of green 25mm Paves? anyone have the 23mm version and want to swap?
Cheers,
Matt -

Green. No point in having flash Euro tyres if people don't know about from a glance.

See if there's anyone local with an account?
@bmx_fred yes it will compared with a narrower rim.
@Scilly.Suffolk cheers - although wondering about not necessary "optimal" but will I feel it...
@edscoble - thanks but I think you're saying it should be fine on normal rims therefore I should be fine? but 13/19 is perhaps narrower than normal so...
anyway. I'm going to leave the 28s alone for a bit and stick with the Maxxis.
