it is possible to raise these issues without being a cunt though

Go on then, see how far you get in capturing the attention of the public. That he is a cunt is your subjective opinion. Like I said, I don't particularly like him - sometimes I find him relentlessly irritating and narcissistic - but he's not a cunt. There are a lot of complete cunts out there, but he's not one.

I think he says some pretty spot-on stuff but no one takes him seriously anyway...
It's an Illuminati plot, obvs...

I have to say I find the hilarious ‘Parklife!’ meme really annoying. My reasons are as follows.
PARKLIFE
Whatever you think of Brand, and everyone seems to have a strong opinion on him, the issues he raises are important ones and I’m glad there is someone in the spotlight waving a flag for righteousness. Fine, not voting is a dubious idea, but it’s a small element to his overarching message. The Parklife thing is incisive and I can see the humour, but it has the effect of discrediting his important viewpoint (important because of the size and demographic of his audience, not because he’s offering much in the way of solutions).
PARKLIFE
What surprises me the most is how left-leaning people are so quick to write him off, revealing, I suspect, an inner conservatism and snobbery. How dare he use such ‘pretentious’ words? Well, he may use florid language but he always uses them correctly and the content of what he says has meaning. It’s part of his persona and what has got him to the bizarre and influential position he’s arrived at.
PARKLIFE
As an aside, people who call things pretentious at the drop of a hat fuck me off too – so often it’s an accusation thrown about by dullard cynics who are either ignorant, lazy or who have the bigoted idea that everyone else’s ideas aren’t clever enough. I’m not an especially big fan myself as it goes, I just find the reactionary bullshit of the left just as cretinous as that of the right. We need more people to stand up and speak out without fear of being deemed silly by self-important fuckwipes. For fuck's sake, their are so may truly vapid celebrities out there who bring absolutely fuck all, yet we get so shitty when someone attempts to shake things up a bit. You shouldn't have to be Noam Chomsky to have an opinion.

And so the moronic shorthand of the internet reduces everything to the lowest common denominator.
