The S3 was top of my list. Actually tried to order one of the Slipstream sports ex-pro bikes. But I was a bit slow. Bit tall at the front for a proper fit. But that red..........

Thanks for the input guys. To be honest I just like the aesthetics of an 'aero' bike, if there's marginal gains to be had then that's a bonus! A few of you mention the ride quality isn't great..is this the bikes fault or because of the way it's set up?
My dolan is stiff as hell so I would rather hope a road bike would offer a little more comfort but maintain the tight/aggressive geometry of a track bike. Perhaps I'm asking for too much..
That Cannondale is a good shout but it's a shame the paint jobs are so garish although this seems to be a common theme on road bikes.. Pauls cycles is just up the road from me so I'll drop in and see how it looks in the flesh.

Earlier aero road bikes where narrow at the front for teh aeros. Which can have a bad effect on handling.
The aero tube shapes also dont flex well laterally. So Comfort can be badly affected.
I looked at nearly a dozen aero road bikes from 2014, and 2015 ranges, and pretty much all of them had solved these downfalls somehow.

Recumbents are pretty aero. Bet they're well comfy too. Problem solved.

I now have an R5. Problem; solved.

This is a bargain. M and XLs available at time of writing.

fupping hell that's a good deal. Those frames are actually really nice in the flesh, and in normal sizes. Shame the example build is set up for a midget.

You mean T-Rex fit?

The Nazare 2 has a lot of changes over the old Alize. Hence the price dump. Still a nice bike.
The local Neil Pryde dealer quoted me a pretty heavy price for a 6870 build, with climbing wheels (which a mate was going to take). Just wasnt doable. Plus, again, the stack is epic.
Slane cycles have a decent price on the new Argon 18 Nitrogen, which is similar. But lower at the front. Silly brakes though.
I've spent soooo much time looking in this and overthinking it.

RE: Tall aero road bikes...
SuperDave stated that the AR intentially has a taller front end than the Felt F series. As the front end is far more aero with lots of headtube and zero spacers. Plus if you are working within the confines of 3:1 rules. Having more of your stack as headtube means more depth, means more aero.
All mute if the fecking thing dont fit though. To be fair the AR front end is pretty sensible. I plan to run the shorter supplied headset cover, and a -12 deg stem, for a perfect fit.

I had Felt F1. It's awesome

SuperDave cracks me up ..

• #6167
The felt F1 wasnt even on my radar. Looking back it bloody should have been
-
• #6168
The F1 is long and low, I thought you check it out already!
-
• #6169
Got rid? Thought you'd just tarted it up?
-
• #6170
The AR Felt bikes are hideous, the F1 is bloody lovely.

I meant has not had.
Riding it today, it's like a bullet.

...the stack is epic
http://www.neilprydebikes.com/bikes/nazare2/bikefit.html
Reach is a teenie bit short. Stack's actually lower than most no?

I'm not going to pretend to have good taste.
One thing asthetically about the uber light and stiff 'classic' bikes is that they can look a bit shit in S/XS. I had considered the R5, Gallium pro, Bura SL, and Super6. Somehow I missed the F1.

How the stacks, stack up....
(S) Nazare stack = 539mm
(S) Propel = 534mm
(S) Nitrogen = 533mm (calculated)
(S) Cervelo S3 = 530mm
(S) Scott foil = 527mm
(S) AR1 = 523mm
(S) Fuji Transonic = 497mmMy BMC SLX01 had a stack of around 517mm (calculated), and I ran a slammmed -10 degree, 100mm stem. So With the -12 degree stem I want. Which drops the bars 3mm. I'm looking at around 520mm of stack. Basically anything from the S3 upwards needs a -17 deg stem.

Supersix Evo = 520mm
Madone H1 = 519mmThere is a lol-tastic set up R2 on WW with deda pista ;)
S2's - stiff, fast, good looking, not very comfortable. Still hasn't stopped me putting in plenty of miles in on mine this year though.
