I think this really needs to get aired in Parliament.

  • Fuck off idiot, how is some wanker running over people with no warning or ability to get out of the way 'natural selection'?

I would argue the victims in this case had far superior genes.

Other than that, I probably agree with you.

  • Yeah, has nothing to do with Malthus.

  • It is death by dangerous driving.

  • It should be with the circumstances of the case.

  • almost sorry all those posts got deleted because now you look like a nutter having an argument with yourself :/

Anyway, signed! I think I'm starting to feel campaigning fatigue because it doesn't seem to matter how many people I write to or whatever I do, there's still a continual landslide of negativity and bullshit in the media, the courts, and the roads. Ugh.

  • I was so fucking confused for about 5 seconds.

  • I like the slightly insane rant.

And as much as there is a pile of bullshit in the media things have changed. Road space is now being reallocated to cycling. It's painfully slow and tedious but Copenhagen wasn't built in a fortnight.

I feel things have tipped, the tfl consultation on the east/west route has closed so a final decision should be soon, save your despair for then!

  • I think someone needs to learn what natural selection actually means.

  • This incidenet sounds like a clear case where the sentence should be higher. However, in a more general sense, this is worth a read on the merits of sentencing.

  • It's painfully slow and tedious but Copenhagen wasn't built in a fortnight.

This is true, and I'm glad you reminded me. Seems like it's a bit too easy to think "but WHYYYYYYYYY is nobody paying attention to MEEEEEEE when I am clearly so very important, much more important than all those other people who have been doing this for much longer and have actually achieved stuff". I will try to be less emo about the whole affair!

  • Ha, ghost of a troll.

  • I agree, good read but believe a great number would continue to drive regardless after being banned.

Still think in general if the dangerous driving is proven in court and there are previous charges then the sentences should err to the maximum and any custodial periods should be served consecutively.

It is upsetting that the people who society need protecting from are often given concurrent sentences for multiple offences.

  • At the end of the Labour government legislation was put forward and approved for bans to start at the end of the jail sentence. Unfortunately it's never been put into act and therefore most bans run during the time of the imprisonment, a farcical outcome.

  • As I understand it, judges take into account the fact someone is in jail when deciding on the duration of a ban and set it so that it lasts what they see as the right time once they are out.

  • As if being banned has stopped them.

  • I agree, good read but believe a great number would continue to drive >regardless after being banned.

They do, way I see it, if everyone does it, it's legal despite what the law said.

    text driving is legal, etc.
