Urban Mini Frame Fixies - Respect Cycles

  • I've spotted a few of these little single speeds in pictures from the US. They look like a BMX / Road Bike hybrid. .. I guess they're not for heavy commuting more pootling around town. I kinda like the look of them and think they could be fun, but each to their own. I wonder if it's something that would / could catch on in town centres up and down the UK in the future? The new craze like skateboarding, BMXing, Rollerblading have al invariably been at one point.

Here they are, Respect Cycles: https://respectcycles.com/

Has anyone / would anyone fancy giving one a go for fun? Or think they're just ridiculous?

  • I saw one of these the other day and was wondering if it was a custom build or kids bike. Obvs not. They would be good for someone who normally rides a shopper/ Kingpin maybe.

  • These types of bikes are incredibly fun to ride. I had a loan of one for a few months last decade.

Think of riding a Brompton or a Dahon without all the flex, weird noises and the feeling the handlebars or stem is going to snap.

Sure I remember a much larger thread on here about mini-velos but can't find in search..

  • cannondale do something similar

    the hooligan

  • Yeah, but the hooligan has a longer wheelbase than my 28" fixed gear.
    Where's the sense in that?

  • The canondale hooligan looks like a beast. Lefty fork and everything!
