  • Converted my fixed gear get-around into a winter trainer last night. Already missing fixed to be honest. We'll see how she fares on a ride to Lewes for the bonfire shinanigans on Wednesday.

I like the look and simplicity of a single ring at the front but I've dropped my chain a couple of times already, any advice? I'd like to avoid chain guides, and narrow/wide chainrings are expensive and don't seem to come in 46 tooth / 130BCD...

    Revert it to fixed?!

Seriously, Y U make it geared?! Fixed is perfect for a winter trainer. Ride fixed all winter and you'll come out the other side stronger than people who've stuck to gears and with better souplesse. All this needed was a bar swap.

(Sorry but I say all this with love!).

  • Either fit an old front mech with the limit screws tightened to keep it in one place, or buy a chain keeper which fits where the mech was.
