Seeking clarification from people on the 3 network...
Is there any limit on your free European roaming? I'm leaving the UK in March, gonna be in Spain for 5-6 weeks doing little getaways all around Europe in that time before emigrating to Oz... Will I be able to do this on a 3 PAYG sim? Seems like a sensible idea to dump my T-Mobile and get this ready now if that's the case... TIA, J x

"Feel at home" only covers a few countries. Spain isn't one of them, for example, and would set you back 19p a minute to call home or for 1MB of data. Holland, Belgium, Germany etc. all not covered.

Argh. Can't decide what to do. Can get the Note 4 for £120, 18 month contract at around £30 a month with EE. Or keep my Note 2 and go with Three for £15.
The phone would end up costing me £390 total (it's a £600 phone). So it's subsidized, but I don't like the idea of having to pay them anything... And my Note 2, although it has a crack in the screen, is working fine...

I remember tricitybendix writing about using a PAYG sim in France (and Spain) that she used on tour with a good data allowance Might be worth it if you only want it for a short while?

Also 'feel at home' is wicked, but it doesn't make roaming free, it makes everything the same price as in the UK, or if you have allowances it lets you use them abroad. So you'd still be paying for data by the MB if you went PAYG. Better to get a pay monthly sim?

Thanks for the tips, I'm sure I'll figure something out... I'm also looking at getting some kind of dual sim phone so I can keep my old UK number on a PAYG basis once I get to Oz, don't wanna be Mr TwoPhones... For the first few months anyway...

Had a quick fondle in a shop, looks beautifully made but the Xperia skin is god awful. Also a PITA if you want to root/flash anything else as you lose the proprietary goodies to DRM. Fuckers.

Had a closer look at this the other day.
I like the white one ok - green and red phones are a no-go for me, and the black one doesn't look too great with this translucent plastic stuff on the sides. Well I guess most use some sort of case anyway, but I don't.They say display size has been increased, while keeping resolution the same and that the display isn't top of the game, but browsing photos on the thing I must say I was very impressed with brightness and quality of the screen.
Yeah that "skin" doesn't look nice. Especially the icons are shit-ugly, and a bit too big maybe.
Well I guess that nothing will ever look as good as iOS, but still I wish they tried harder. -

Does anybody have the three APN settings? It won't auto download on the moto g and the website is wank.
-
• #15390
Yeah had play around with one today, I wish the skin was less cluttered with less detail in the icons etc. I still like it technical abilities although camera, battery life, waterproof..

question - Giff Gaff - how do forum-mongers find this offering for mobile-internet?
was attempting to use the Goog Maps for voiture-navigation yesterday but found it unable to download the return route for the entire journey home (!);
(am using a Fairphone which is a little old-spec. so do wonder a little if its hardware-related..)

I used to love Giff Gaff but left them earlier in the year, for Three, after their service took a dive and their prices increased.
I'm now on the £18 per month unlimited data 4G package from Three and it's definitely much quicker in and around London. Also seems to have greater 3G coverage out in the sticks but I could just be lucky with my locations.
Only issue i've suffered is that the microcell near my flat malfunctioned a couple of months ago and lead to a couple of weeks or random dropped calls but they fixed it pretty quickly.

I can agree with Soul in that Three's 3G in the sticks has always been better than GG in my experience. I have renewed love for Three as my Moto G has 4G and 4G is epic.
As tin foil hat as it may make me sound I'm starting to believe that Three are making their 3G service shitter to encourage people to upgrade their phone to a 4G phone.

Child #2 dropped Child #1's brand new Moto E and smashed the screen.
a) Anyone know of somewhere that does cheap screen replacements - best I can google is £50.
or b) Anyone have an old, micro-sim compatible phone going for minimal cash. Needs to text, facebook and skype but that'll do him.Ta

My Google account grabs my work email via pop. This is convenient most of the time. However, I would prefer to not get work emails after 6 and before 9. Is there a simple way of achieving this?

I don't suppose you bought it directly from Motorola? They offer a free screen replacement service if you did.
If not, replacing a screen is, normally, a relatively straightforward job that you can do yourself.

Cheers Andy - no, not direct. On a contract. Will have a look at diy route, but given my recent hamfisted attempt to replace a DS screen I'm not sure that's much of a plan.
I'm considering The One Plan, sim only, 12 months, unltd data (4GB tethering), unltd texts, 200 min, £15pm
