Ritcheys in all black.

I find the thinner Lizard Skins actually lasts longer (it's also much nicer).
Zipp tape is a good alternative too.

meant to be about 600g difference between '70 mexicos and supers, the mexico being the lightest at aprox 1650kg, so will get on the hammer and nails to find out

Good to hear, thanks

Are quill ahead adapters always wrong? I reckon this looks ok, like the rest of the build pulls it through the quagmire. Stem ain't great, but I'm just getting the length right before something fancy.

7800 wooo. love that crankset.
-
• #97734
Yeah, all 7800 except the callipers. Such a pretty gruppo.

does anyone know what should i ask for in cycling shop if i want something to tighten the bolts that secure cranks to the bottom bracket axle?

A socket wrench for crank bolts

Specifically, 14 or 15mm. A bike shop will know what you're talking about but it might be worth forking out £15 for one of your own. I've lost count of the amount of times I've used mine since I bought it. Worth noting that some sockets won't fit in some cranks because the walls are too thick. Sometimes you need an actual bike-specific tool as they have thinner walls.

thanks for the tip. after your advice i think i am gonna take my dura ace crank arm to the shop to see if their tools fit.

@zaurbek just buy the 14/15mm socket wrench, a good investment.

Am I the only one on this forum who thinks 7800 is the ugliest, cheapest looking DA group ever made? I'd rather have silver 5700 if I liked the look.

• #97742
hey Kal, how's it going? 14/15 combo sounds good to me, will go to halfords in tottenham hale tomorrow to see if they have got anything.

the chainrings on 5700 though, no thanks. plus the 7800 calipers are lovely.
My first road bike came with 6600. 7800 was the unreachable top tier. unreasonable emotional attachment, maybe, but it still has its objective charms. -

@Antidotes what was the stuff used on the spokes in this?
Is it super amazing bright like that all the time or just caught the flash really well in pic?
Pompino is going to be finished tomorrow if I get time to pass bnq for a hacksaw blade and crown race setting pipe and as it's going super practical/functional doing reflectives might be worth it.
Mudguards arrived today for the pompino, seems to not mess with the racks, the back mudguard is a bit close so will need some adjusting. The gf build next to it is short brakelevers and a saddle which should also arrive in the next few days.

Looks like these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B004JNRU2K?pc_redir=1413087305&robot_redir=1
In which case they are really bright under a camera flash or a car headlight, but not so much otherwise. Like the reflective strip on your tyre.

Lovely Argos! I also love the duraace 7800 group, I'm thinking of putting on my argos to replace some of the 6600 bits.
The quill adapter doesn't look too bad actually, seems quite low profile compared to others.

Building this Flandria frame up with first/second generation dura ace at the moment. Will take some time though. Cranks and levers already polished!

Yeah dude, it's super amazing bright like that from a drivers perspective if the headlights are on you/near you. It might just give a driver those extra few seconds to me.
They're "spoke reflectors" that use 3M Scotchlight reflective material. They look pretty sturdy, hopefully they wont fly off the wheel. I'm going to order some more packs today, 36 per pack, want me to get some in for you? -

@Antidotes link?
just received and unpacked this
a circa '77 colnago super/mexico? , decals seem later than frameset, and are un clear coated, so could have been done later, though i have seen one from that era in same decor, give away is a 531 decal, with a visible columbus stamp on the steerer tube,
may have been repainted as unsure if "saronni red" was used in '77, another give away is the poor decor finish inside forks
otherwise current decor acceptable, frame is real deal though
i have a period 3ttt stem of comedic proportions, so i'm thinking nuovo record gruppo, bull bars and the befamed tektro tt type levers, may also try to de decal and replace with period correct
