  • Nice!! What mudguards are they?

  • Hi gyus.
Don't want to create a topic to ask my question.

Have an idea to build track/road specific singlespeed bike with rear disc brakes or v-brakes mounts.
I'm interested if there are any ok frames with nice geo? headtube, tt, bottom bracket - road or track alike.

lurked around and everything is to commuting or cx oriented.
Wanna fit 35mm track fork and da crankset to coast around.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Any PF30 or BB30 disc frame with an eccentric bottom bracket?

  • hate ebb.
    looking more for sliding drops.
asked triton bikes for a custom frame for now, but have time to know some more at he market.

  • Fantastic!

  • @Dom I got the Lifeline Performance cables for my Straggler, turns out the brake outer isn't long enough to do the front and rear brakes (I could have worked this out before ordering it had I not been so lazy). I've had to order an additional brake cable set (£12.49) so it's not worked out amazingly well.

  • Thanks for the heads up.

I received a set of cables with my SRAM group. I'll swap out the brake cables for two sets of the £12.49 Lifeline Performance compressionless sets and I should be set. Hopefully that's all I need to get reasonably good performance from my TRP Spyre discs.

  • You should be able to see a considerable improvement with the Spyres, the obvious difference is a noticeable bite when engaged.

The pull feel heavier with Spyres than with BB7 on account of having two spring rather than just the one.

  • [Managed to answer my own question]

  • boast post?

  • Pics or it never happened.

  • Heh, not really. I was weighing up the differences between the Tubus Tara and Duo.

Sparing too many details, the Tara is supposed to be stronger, lighter and easier to install. The Duo would be less bulky and is unlikely to require removal if I was boxing the bike and flying with it but that's unlikely to happen any time soon.

  • What front hub/wheel you planning on running with the Spyre's @Dom? Careful of anything with a flange-to-flange over 59mm as you'll run into clearance problems with the caliper and spokes. The calipers measure up a bit wider than others due to the arm that extends over the body to acctuate both pistons. Shout if you need a 1mm/0.5mm rotor spacer to eek out a bit more clearance - I've got plenty.

  • Ah, damn. I've gone for Novatec D711SB/D712SB; according to their website the front is F.T.F. 61.6mm and the rear is F.T.F. 58.4mm.

Do you know if I'll be able to adequately space out the front, or should I be looking at alternative calipers?

I've got the duo. It's alright, but a faff to install. Get the Tara.
But really there isn't much in it. Just get the one you like the look of more.

  • Nice rack etc etc...

Been meaning to say how impressed I've been with that Hope light you sold me, it's great.

  • You might be ok - it's then a matter of how much clearance you have between rotor and fork blade as you punt the rotor over with a spacer. Provided the fork's made correctly you should have 1-1.5mm to play with. You have to bare in mind that everything flexes a bit when loaded though so whilst it may clear everything fine in the workstand... it's a juggling act! Happy to send you some spacers but I'm not back in the UK until week after next.

  • Thanks, I'll see how it goes and let you know. Appreciate the help.
