  • Ceci n'est pas une cloche.

  • You're a mum's house.

  • I don't use a bell myself, I just headbutt the nearest pedestrian and the ringing in my ears alerts everyone to my presence.

  • Every motherfucker on the forum knows both of the aforementioned mothers live in flats.

  • I don't use a bell myself, I just headbutt the nearest pedestrian and the ringing in my ears alerts everyone to my presence.

    So much #rep

  • Heading west along Oxford street to meet the Mrs and there was a guy in Lycra on a Brompton constantly ringing his bell. Less of a warning to peds and more of an announcement to the masses that someone special was coming.

  • Someone threw a fag out the window of their car ok the NKR and I managed to put it out with a skid!

Back in my motorbike commuting days someone flicked a ciggy out of a car window at me as I was filtering past, with a deft glove I batted it back through the window and down into the passenger footwell. Oh how I sniggered.

  • This morning, MTB rider headed up CS7 through tooting (known suicide-ped blackspot).
In full hi-viz (for safety, obvs) but riding no handed (wobbled a lot, looked like he was trying to learn to ride with no hands).

  • Impatience driver last night on Crown Lane shouting and generally getting really annoyed but the fact that I was in front of him and not using the cycle lane to my left . Not sure what his and his passengers problem was. The traffic was back up all the way along the road so he could go anywhere apart from the length of a bike to the next car. Half a dozen car's had parked in the cycle land and I wanted to turn right. I can't filter through the traffic so what was I to do. I did make the mistake of asking what I should and got the usual you shouldn't be on the road you don't pay tax blah blah blah. Eventual a gap opened up and I slowly cycled away while he fumed in the traffic.

  • Today's ride:

    Perception 6/10
    Reality 6.5/10

  • Toe clip disaster. Riding brakeless with one toe clip. Not the end of the world, but almost.

  • Here in the arse end of Sweden the drivers are so kind and considerate to cyclists (Have right of way). Compared to London where every moving object is out to kill you.
Only problem is that motorists don't expect a cyclist to be keeping up with the flow of traffic, so they see you and just pull out regardless of the Speed you are going.
I feel somewhat bored on my commutes now. My fear of death has been dulled.
    Meh

  • (Have right of way).

They also have right of way in the UK, the trouble is that the UK government doesn't want to do anything about ensuring that motorists understood this (like Spain).

  • Hey ho - I also commuted on a motor bike for many years. One morning overtaking at almost walking pace a black cab in Smithfield in slow traffic the cabbie reached out and emptied the dregs from his coffee cup, timing it perfectly to land in my lap. We smiled and shook hands and wished each other a fabulous day. As you do.....

  • Hope you did the finger wag after.

  • Today my job involves visiting loads of artists in their studios. This in turn involves me being on a perpetual commute. The sun is shining and I am a happy person. A cheery hello to all.

  • I suppose these 'artists' have needs like anyone else and who are we to judge how you make a living?

  • Incredibly quiet roads today. Barely a car in sight!

  • it's amazing what difference a new crank / head / wheel set makes. It's like riding a brand new biek!

    ...

  • I enjoyed watching a person on a bike remove the keys from the ignition of a limo that had cut them up earlier.

  • go on...

  • Everyone this morning seemed to be riding Cyclo cross bikes
