I guess what I should have said is that the system with lots of spacers will be less stiff, as you have a relatively narrow long span of tube vs a shorter span with stiff stem making up the system instead. I think the lots of spacers case will deflect more, but you are right, the forces/moment will be the same.
Maybe buckling could be an issue with the longer stack system? Regardless, still don't recommend it.
