mixte / ladies frame or bike 19-20 inch

  • Hi looking to build my girlfriend a bike , she has a 21 inch Raleigh pioneer but it's a tad to tall for her , so either looking for frame to swap out or maybe complete bike around 19 -20 inch

Ideally lightweight steel, 531 would be nice , can be tatty though as will probably respray

    Cheers

  • You have PM.

  • Dawes Gal?

    531ST

  • 2?! Looks good, What size ? Thanks

  • 21"

    :(

    Sorry...

  • Shame cheers anyway

  • I have a 19" Falcon/ Edinburgh Cycles bike from the 80

The downside is a seized seat post. However, if she is around 5ft 5 that should not be a problem
    The bike is in Walthamstow...

  • I have a space 52cm framed bike (that's 20.47" imperial). Although there are no tubing stickers, it is more gaspipe than 531.

Complete bike in great working order, new tyres, unusual drum brakes.

It has a short stem and swept back bars so would work well.

Sorry for the crap photos but that's what it looks like.

  • Thanks Vince , that's just what I'm looking style wise for but I think its going to be too big, I think 19" is probably about right as the 21" she has is too tall

  • Cheers, she's 5'5ish", but as the height of her current bike is too tall, the seized seatpost might cause more issues. IF you get a chance to measure floor to seat top I could check....

  • @zootsuit Forgot to mention that the wheels are 650A so the overall bike sits a bit lower than 700c wheels.

    650A = ISO 590 mm
    700 C = ISO 622 mm

    Height difference = a mighty 16mm lower...

  • thanks Vince I'm still a bit wary of buying one that's still a bit too big. If you can let me know the min saddle height from the floor I can check..

  • No worries, you can always borrow it for a week's trial before deciding ;-)

  • Ive got a Triumph Palm Beach single speed bike, not sure of size atm but I am 5'4 and it fits me very comfortably. Can send you photos after work if you're interested

  • That'd be great thanks

  • I've got an 18-23 tubed raleigh that has the virtue of being extremely cheap... Paintwork is reasonable.

Missing the wheels but have a 650b set that could be serviced and paired with the right drops. Otherwise just needs bar tape and brakepads, or FS as a frame set. Will measure up if you'd consider?

  • Hi found a frame now thanks - but am on the hunt for a pair of 700c wheels. Could never get the Sturmey Archer 3 speed on the existing bike to work right, think the shifter is knackered. Anyone tried a gripshift with Sturmey Archer?

...also considering Nexus , anyone have any experience of it ?
