Given that there are now about ten* (marketed) disciplines of 'MTB', you're going to have to be a bit more specific.
On a front-sus bike, the HT angle changes as soon as you sit on it.
Add to that the fact that the arse-end of a Pomp is really quite short, and I'm guessing** it won't make the world's most surprisingly amazing XC/Cross ripper.
Waste some dough trying if you like though, living vicariously can be great fun.*sarcasm

though Prolly does admit that the rear end of this Rosko is supposed to be 10mm longer.

Freewheel, way more fun imo

How are you using those levers with full size v brakes?
-
• #4391
They just work without any mods etc.

• #4392
Weird, shouldn't the cable pull be wrong?

And what ratio? Might be a bit OT but how do you find 44t up front? I'm thinking of dropping my ratio a bit from 48/18 to 44 or 46.

V brakes required a much closer pads contact with the rims to ensure the levers throw isn't that big, is that what you did?
-
• #4396
Yup

That make a lots of sense, if the rubbing is driving you crazy (wheel flex), compressionless housing should allow you to have a bit more room between the pads and rims.

Hey guys,
Just bought @harv4130's Pompino. It's a real mix of parts but I've been having a lot of fun riding it around the local trails. Having never owned a bike with cantilevers before, I was wondering if I could get some advice regarding the front brake cable routing. I want to put a shorter stem on and lower the front end, since I'm a bit shorter than the previous owner, but it seems that the cable is already running pretty tight to get into the steerer mounted hanger - what's the best way to set it up?

^ this. Crown mounted > steerer mounted every day of the week.
Brilliant Pompy Chicken stuffed with Haggis! Anyone who can average 15-16mh on a pomp must have thighs like a pro bodybuilder. A very entertaining and hugely enjoyable read.
So I need to get into training to push my 55 year old self to do something like this. I think though a more sedate 50-60 miles per day would be my aim. I'd better start saving up for carbon forks.
Thanks Pompy
