  • You'll also look like a complete cunt wearing that watch.

    Oh, wait a minute...

  • Thanks dov

  • anyone know any watches with 2 x independent hour hands for dual time?

  • gmt master

  • @danb thanks for adding a link to that page. i like it.

  • The Doris wants a new watch, Larsson and Jennings/Uniform wares style.
She's been looking at these but I'm not sure if they're a bit pricey for what they are.

    Any help?

  • Copped a brand new Steinhart with ceramic bezel for £220... well happy, it's effin lovely...

Now just to justify it...Anyone want that Seiko for £150 with strap, steel bracelet and original box etc? A few months old only...still under warranty, I'll check for sure when I get back tonight

  • Looks like Leo has a new rival in the "how do I wear this?" department:

    Also can't use a camera:

  • @Tenderloin

    Looks expensive to me

If it was me I would be looking at a Longines quartz at that price point or a nice Seiko/Orient with an automatic movements for a bit less.

  • Longines quartz>

    Thanks. I thought so to.
She is set on one of these brands. I favour the UW watches but I don't suppose it matters too much either way

  • Rolex Servicing, what's the deal?
I've had my Air-King for just over 10 years now (built July 2004) and it's never had a service. Dealer initially advised a service after two years then every year after that, but I think he was just trying to rinse me, it's not missed a beat. Is it worth a pre-cautionary service (which tbh, I can ill afford) or just keep waiting until it stops working? Is that likely to happen soon? It's not a daily wearer and sits idle a lot of the time.

  • Watches which have been built with modern, synthetic oils, run for longer than they used to, without the oils gumming up and hardening.

If the watch is kept clean inside, then I would expect it to run happily for many years without having regular services. I wouldn't listen to anyone who tells you that you need a service every couple of years. If you are really unsure, get a watchmaker to pop it on a timegrapher and if need be, inspect the movement to see if it looks dry.

  • Austin Kaye on the Strand have some really nice stock guys.

    2012 Tudor black bay 1795

Hamilton Khaki on nato strap - auto - £295

Some nice vintage Smiths dress watches also.

Nice "transition dial" Submariner on 007 nato too.

  • Got it...

Really pleased with it and creation watches were excellent, two days from Singapore to Landan. Currently have it on a Jubilee bracelet but trying to switch it to a black NATO, having trouble with getting a spring bar out, any tips?

  • The springs are really tricky to take out, I couldn't manage it so I took it to the watch guy in Brixton market... He didn't have a very easy time of it either... You got the right tool?

  • Yeah, one came out relatively easily but the other is a b****, I bought this; http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003INUENE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00
which isn't super quality but the hammer and the link tools are worth the price alone and I am using the spring bar tool. Yeah I might take it there tomorrow.

  • New crush

  • It popped off, so tried the black nato, hmmm.

  • Looks good on a black NATO, like it's on one of the black rubber straps they sometimes come with.

  • Austin Kaye's notorious...

  • He went through a period many moons ago of "swapping out" authentic watch parts for non-authentic parts.

Whilst he has some great stock, I don't know anyone who's bought a watch from there who's been 100% happy with it.

There's always a feeling of being royally fucked over when you leave his store - even if you haven't spent any money.

  • That's interesting B&D, didn't know that. Often have a gawp but also have harboured reservations about the place I couldn't quite put my finger on.

  • that takes a special person to do that
