  • Just finished making some upgrades to my girl friends kingpin, which was her grandmothers. Really happy with how it turned out. Upgraded to some cheap alloy wheels with a coaster brake (£45) and some kojaks. Shaved a good bit of weight and runs a lot smoother now. Only down side is they are 406 vs the 440 wheels that were on there. 451 would have been better obviously but didn't have the money to get a custom set built. It's so much fun to ride now, don't want to give it back.

    Another really easy way to drop weight is by switching the seat post. I can't remember what size they take, but it's fairly obscure so often end up being a bit more expensive a cheaper/easier option is using a 27.2mm and a shim.

    Looks great I miss mine and still sort of wish I'd gone through with the semi-ww project I planned. But I've still got the correct size rims so one day I'll build one.
