Correct. This was not an easy call. Maybe we got it wrong, but below is our reasoning. I will note that our m-comm was divided: Max and I for how it went, Ben for a 7/6 split. We are happy to hear if others disagree. If there is a strong opinion that it should have gone 7/6, then we'll take that into account next year.
There five teams who are very closely ranked (Spikes, Bourgies, Jokes, Westway and Clerks). This happened last year too: a very tight mid-table who had to be split. We decided then that the odd team (number 8 out of 15) should go into Division B rather than A, for a 7/8 split. The reasoning was that having more closely-ranked teams in Div B would make that division more exciting for all of them -- a real fight for first place of Div B. The action in Div A would already by exciting.
Since we made that decision last year, we decided -- before the vote -- use the same logic. That would mean a 6/7 split. But the tie screws that up.
We decided that going with a 7/6 split would go against that principle and it would leave two closely ranked teams (Westway and Clerks) to play a bunch of much lower ranked teams. A 5/8 split would be too few in Div A.
