  • @Jezston was it to chain reaction, my bad!

  • tempted to get another pair of DZR, both my pairs only lasted aroudn 6 months.. but the chrome I have are just slipping too my from the heals. By the way, anyone possibly interested in a brand new pair of kursk pro size 40? they have been sitting in their box for a month now, still deciding whether to make do with them or look elsewhere...

  • Thanks for the replies, CRC don't have them in my size which is annoying as they look quite good. I'll have a little search around some of the central-ish bike shops & see what I can find.

  • I've got the Shimano M088 and whilst they don't look as much like a casual shoe than chromes or DZRs, they're fine to walk in, I've ran 100m or so in them before just fine, cleats don't touch the floor and I think they're overall pretty sound

    Not the prettiest

  • did anyone get giro republics? white and black ones look alright and might replace my dying Scott SPD boots and ill fitting sidis in one go

  • ^Old work colleague of mine loved them, I would consider them as well tbh but got the giro privateers so I could use for long rides as well as commuting/uni etc

  • I have a pair of Chrome Kursk SPD shoes up for grabs if anyone wants some, US size 8 but more more of a UK9 as the fit appears slightly oversized. Nice rugged shoes, would recommend them but no longer need them as I'm not in a City anymore. Switched out to some Road pedals, can supply some newish Time Atac cleats too. Would take £35 + postage, message me for photos. Will be on Ebay tomorrow

  • Just seen these on twitter via Condor. What do people think?

  • I've got the (tweed run edition) Fixed shoes, and they are beautifully made. But of course they don't have cleats, so I don't know how the glue would hold up to yanking on pedals.

If the Hardcourts are as well made then I think we might have a winner.

  • New Specialized Cadet SPD shoes look promising

  • I got the specialized 2fo the other day, they are really good, mega tough and stiff, although not mega casual looking.

  • "mega stiff" = uncomfortable to walk in or no?

  • OK, not quite as nice as the chromes I've been using, the arch support seems a bit much when walking, I'll see if they bed in a bit before getting the other insoles though.

  • @snottyotter I'll be getting some of the 2fo ones after payday, I assume you've been using the "clip" SPD ones? How well do you think the upper part of the shoe is connected to the base?

I was really happy with my Sidi Dominators in terms of durability (can't use them for my current purpose as they're not very good for walking in) but I've had some casual SPD shoes before & I ended up ripping the top part of the shoe away from the bottom over the course of winter...

  • Yup, clip ones for polo, they are made for DH/freeride type riding and look to be put together accordingly.

  • Sounds good enough my my meager needs. Thanks.

  • Does anyone use overshoes with their chromes? Intrigued as it's the only pair of SPD compatible i have and would like to keep my feet dry during the winter

  • I use overshoes when it's raining with my DZRs. Harder to get on, but keep them dry for 20-30mins.

  • I might look into some cheap ones

  • Rather than make a thread for one item...

  • anyone seen Giro Rumble VR's in person yet?

    look nice

  • Got a pair of the quoc Pham hard court boot through the door, the other week. Off the bike over the Christmas period, but will report back after. Initial impressions are good, solid construction, deep spd cleat well, and they look nice. Can't wait to see how they compare to my dzr's and the chrome midways..

  • Atac cleats don't stick out on my Midways
